Maynooth University is delighted to assist in welcoming the Irish Systems & Signals conference to Maynooth.

Conference Venue

Maynooth University is located on a beautiful historic campus 25km from Dublin City Centre, in Maynooth (/məˈnuːθ/; Irish: Maigh Nuad), Ireland's only University town, . Situated in the heart of Co. Kildare, world renowned for both its equestrian industry and golfing (home of the 2006 Ryder Cup), the University is within easy reach of many local attractions and amenities. There is a regular bus and train service in and out of Maynooth to Dublin. Details can be found on the Dublin Bus and Irish Rail websites.

Plenary and Parallel Sessions

The plenary and parallel sessions will be held in the Iontas Building, North Campus, Maynooth University, Maynooth, Co. Kildare. (This is identified as building 48 in the Maynooth University Basic Campus Map.)

The conference banquet location will be announced at a later date.

Hotel Information

The closest hotel to the university is the Glen Royal Hotel and is located about 10 minutes from the North Campus.

Accomodation can also be found on Maynooth Campus itself where you can book rooms on the South Campus of the Maynooth university.

South Campus Accommodation

Single college rooms prices are €33.00 single occupancy and €27.00 per person sharing (private bedrooms with shared shower and toilet down the corridor).

Classic Ensuite @ €53.00 single occupancy basis or €34.00 per person sharing.

Superior Ensuite @ €68.00 single occupancy basis or €43.00 per person sharing.

Suite @ €85.00 on a single occupancy basis or €55.00 per person sharing.

Breakfast is a continental breakfast and is an additional €8.00 per person per day.

North Campus Apartments

University Village/Rye Hall - single bedrooms within a 5 bedroom apartment with a fully fitted kitchen and living area at a daily rate of €35.00 per person per day.

River/Courtyard - single ensuite bedrooms within a 5 bedroom apartment with a fully fitted kitchen and living area at a daily rate of €42.00 per person per day.

Breakfast is served on the south campus and is an additional €8.00 per person per day.

Off Campus Accommodation

Carton House Hotel and golf club is a little further out and about a 30 minute walk from the university but there is a good taxi service which only takes a few minutes to get to Maynooth town.

Alternately you may wish to stay in Dublin city itself and take the train or bus out to Maynooth.

Travel Information

Travelling to Maynooth

Travel to and from Maynooth is remarkably easy and efficient. There are many inexpensive flights connecting Dublin city with most major UK cities, especially London and a range of European cities. There are also extensive ferry, bus and train connections.

There is one major airport serving Dublin city:

  • Dublin Airport is just 14 kilometeres from the city centre, served by a frequent Dublin Bus Airport Express 747 bus service to the city centre and its main bus and rail stations. There are also many private operators and a dedicated Airport Hopper service that goes directly to Maynooth town. these can be found under the 'To & From the airport' tab on the Dublin Airport site.

Additionally, Belfast International Airport, located approximately 100 miles to the north, provides connections to airports throughout Europe and further afield. Journey time to Dublin is approximately 2 hours by road.

Fast ferry services including Stena Line and P&O Ferries make multiple daily crossings from Ireland to ports in Scotland and England:

  • Dublin Port is located minutes away from Dublin city and its many bus and trains routes to Maynooth.
  • Belfast Port is located approximately one mile from the Beflast city centre and can be reached by bus, taxi or on foot. Once there you can use different transposrtation methods to reach Maynooth.

Rail connections are available from both the UK and Dublin.


In Ireland the road network is quite good, but with large volumes of traffic at peak hours. Motorway links Dublin Airport to Maynooth via the M1 and the M50.

Local bus services within Maynooth are provided by Dublin bus, the main routes being the 66 and 67. More details on bus service can be found here.

Taxi can be found at the rank in Dublin Airport. Within Maynooth there are a number of taxi companies offering services.

Walking within Maynooth is no more than 20 minutes end to end! Directions from the Glen Royal Hotel can be found here, with main routes to get to the university and the conference location.

Walks can also be found along the canal and into Carton House from Maynooth.

Parking at the University
The university has a number of large car parks that are free to use during the summer months (8 June 2019 to 23 September 2019). Parking locations on the North campus can be found here with additional details here.

Although the parking is free to use during the time of the conference, the assigned traffic management company will continue to patrol the campus for inappropriate parking as described in the traffic management and policy enforcement guide.
